Cullen's Hometown Market
The tradition continues...

Although we just recently opened our doors in 2023, there is a long history behind the business. The Market was originally the site of Sliger's Produce, opened by Dean Sliger in 1953, giving local farmers a place to sell their produce. Sliger's Produce had a loyal following for 57 years, and was a huge part of the local history. Owner/manager Cullen Sliger worked in this business from it's beginning, learning everything he could from his father. He, his wife Kim, and their family bring years of knowledge and experience to the produce and nursery business. Partners in the market are Bertha Furry and her daughters, Reca, Kim and Cayla. The Furry's also have roots in the Brownwood area. Bertha's late husband, Wayne was born in Grosvenor, then made his way to West Texas and married Bertha. Over the years, they continued to come back to Brown County and in 1962 bought a place in Blanket. Throughout their lives they've owned and operated several diverse businesses in the West Texas oilfields and in the Brownwood area. Bertha brings her extensive knowledge of business management and accounting to the partnership. When you visit the market, you're visiting family. Several of the employees are part of the family and if not, they seem that way!! Today we are carrying on the traditions of these two families, with a new name, new look, but same great quality and service.
